Our commitment and concern is to protect our forests and strive to maintain an eco-friendly planet through conservation.
We pride ourselves on the many advantages of our log homes and have created this exceptionally energy-efficient log system just for you, the discriminating buyer.
EXCLUSIVE TRIPLE “S” TECHNOLOGY – includes all hardware for your log home package as well as the following standard inclusions:
• Logs
• 8” thick x 10” high – greater thermal mass increases heatability
• Air-dried indoors minimum of 1 year to establish a stable moisture content - minimal settlement
• Wall height – 8’ 3” – customized log wall height available
• Pre-assembled in factory for inspection before delivery
• Pre-treated for added protection
• TJI subfloors
• Self-adjusting thru-bolts - make final connection to a self-locating receiver eliminating the need for periodic, time-consuming manual adjustments
• Assembly hardware – dichromated to enhance performance
• Polypropylene corner spline seals - with stabilizing thru-bolts to lock dovetail corners together and act as an impenetrable barrier for air and moisture
• Log profile – increased back cut to eliminate incremental gaping
• Subjamb – state-of-the art, pre-manufactured subjamb at windows and doors to stabilize the logs, for ease of settlement and to enhance the structural integrity of the log wall
• NO caulking required anywhere in log system
• Expandable, memory spline seal – at intersection of log-to-log and log-to-post connections to ensure an increased air and moisture seal
• Exclusive window and door casing – includes slip-jointed top casing eliminating need for external sealants and allows for settlement over windows and doors
• Windows – solid pine frame (no finger-jointed
material)
• Windows & Doors – full interior
jamb extensions within log openings
• Porch floors – in cedar on PT substructure
included in any design with porches
• Electrical – pre-drilled
Healthy Living
· Log homes typically use more environmentally
friendly materials, finishes and wood preservatives that have
low odor, low VOC. Less fiberglass insulation is used as the
solid log walls are natural insulators.
· Since air-conditioning units are rarely required,
anyone with adverse reactions to air-conditioning
will find that log homes, with their exceptional insulative
properties, are exactly what they’re
looking for.
· The solid thickness of log home walls provide a natural sound barrier reducing the intrusion of outside noise.
· No caulking is required anywhere in the log system, reducing health sensitive materials used in the construction of the home.
Thermal Mass – R value
· Thermal mass is a material’s capacity to absorb, store and slowly release heat over time. Logs do this well. The nation’s Model Energy Code now recognizes the energy-conservation of thermal mass as proven by the LHC (Log Homes Council). Logs have thermal mass because of their cellular structure, bulk and thickness and this thermal pass provides significant energy-saving benefits because it releases heat back into the house when temperatures drop. Wood’s thermal mass characteristics often exceed minimum energy efficiency code criteria.
Faster Construction
· The log walls are pre-assembled in the factory for customer inspection before delivery, reducing construction time on the site and eliminating potential delays.
· Main floor log walls can be erected in 2 to 3 days
speeding up the construction time and reducing labour costs.
· The electrical feed for receptacles is predrilled at the factory saving building costs and time on the jobsite.
Fire Resistant
· As we learned as Scouts years ago, it is much easier
to burn 2 x 4 sticks of lumber than to set fire to an 8-inch solid
log. What’s more, there is no air space between logs to
fuel a fire, if one does get started.
· “As an organic material, wood is combustible.
Yet its insulation and charring characteristics produce an
astounding response to fire. The charring effects of wood
results in a protective coating over the surface of the material.
This protective char coat is very similar to the effect created
by some fire-retardant chemicals used to protect materials
and assemblies…. A nominal 6” log wall achieved
a 1 ½ hour fire-rating in full scale testing. As the
log wall thickness increases, so does the fire rating.”
(quoted from the Technical Committee of the Log Homes Council,
National Association of Home Builders)
Lifespan
· As demonstrated by our forefathers, with minimal maintenance, your log home will last more than many lifespans – a legacy for your children, your grandchildren and your great-grandchildren.
